Front:  Curly with an antique roast.  
Back:  Planer skip at an end.  Clear to 20" then some bark inclusions which is very common with hickory.

Roasted Curly Tiger Hickory
Hickory is extremely hard, durable, and roasting it makes it stable.  
This is what ax, sledgehammer, maul handles etc. are made from. 
It is very durable, and impact resistant.  Harder than hard maple.   
Roasted hickory,  looks like it is an antique from the medieval ages. 
Curly hickory is rarely found.


The roasting process pre-stresses the wood, caramelizes the sugars, sealing the pores and rendering them more resistant to moisture and movement.
The caramelizing color pervades throughout the board thus enhancing the tiger figure.

Please note all wood is face jointed flattened, planed and edge jointed unless otherwise noted. 
Wood has been dried in a Nyle kiln to 6% to 8% moisture content.
