When decaying logs are attacked by fungi, it can create a unique colors and patterns of spalt throughout wood. The wood is dried, preventing further decay. Spalted Maple may exhibit on or more of the following characteristics: pigmentation, white rot and black lines. These characteristics are in the very nature of spalted wood, and contribute to its natural beauty. Please note that Spalted Wood may contain rot, cracks, checks, voids, worm or bug holes, or bark inclusions.
Note: Boards were wetted to display colors and patterns for picture taking.

Front: Blend of shades of blonde, creams, browns and grays and loaded with black zone lines and pin holes. Has a few scattered small  knots
Back: Little to no spalt on this side. Has an open knot along an edge, 12-5/8" to 13-1/4" from an end is 6-1/2" off an edge

Please note all wood is flat sawn, face jointed flattened, planed and edge jointed unless otherwise noted. 
Wood has been dried in a Nyle kiln to 6% to 8% moisture content.
